The Loop Company, maker of Loop Fly Fishing Reels and other fishing equipment, was founded in 1979 by two avid fly fishermen. They wanted to be able to make their living doing what they loved.
As the company grew, it added more members to its team. Among those was Goran Andersson, a casting guru. Soon after, the company was contacted by Kurt Danielsson, who complained that currently-available reels were of poor quality. This spurred Loop to design a better reel.
At the time of the release of Loop’s first new reel, anglers were tradition-bound and considered the Loop version to be too odd. Over the next 20 years, however, the Loop design became the standard across the industry.
